Faculty Sponsors for Interns

A note for sponsors:

We hope you will consider sponsoring students who are interested in becoming a PINEMAP intern. Your duties in this regard should be highly limited. At minimum, you will need to:

  1. Write a letter certifying that the undergraduate has room in their schedule for a 3 credit hour class in the fall 2013 semester.
  2. Sign up the student for a 3 credit hour special topics or undergraduate research course for fall 2013
  3. Post a final grade for the student for the undergraduate research course
We do not expect your obligations to be greater than performing the above duties. The undergraduate research credit will go toward a distance-based public communication class conducted by Virginia Tech members of PINEMAP's Education Aim. We will provide you with your student's final grade; you only need to enter it into your institution's grade reporting system.

If you have additional questions, please contact the Intern Program Coordinator.
